The Safety Awards are presented by the Idaho Trucking Association and sponsored by HUB and Great West Casualty Co. They are awarded to the best in category in Idaho each year at the annual convention and general meeting. This years awards were presented at the Shore Lodge in McCall ID, on September 10th.

2021 Maintenance Person of the Year
William Irving - D&D Transportation
William Irving has been employed by D&D Transportation Services, Inc of Gooding Idaho for more than 9 years. William is responsible for service and maintenance for the company’s trucks, trailers, annual inspections, GPS units, forklifts, service trucks and negotiates with vendors to keep the company’s costs under control. William is a hard worker, dependable, detailed, and he takes ownership and priced in all that the does. D&D is grateful for William’s dedication and is proud to nominate him for Maintenance Person of the Year.
2021 Safety Supervisor of the Year
Don Best - Western Transport Inc.
"Don Joined Western Transport in Feb of 2017 to replace our retiring Safety director, Don is a NATMI certified Director of Safety and has helped spearhead our safety, compliance, and training efforts since joining our team. Don was essential in our conversion to ELDS from AOBRDs, he has led our advances in technology, including the continued adoption of crash prevention technologies such as adaptive cruise control. Don oversees our training program and in his tenure with great teaching skills and patience has helped almost 50 people get their CDL.
Don has been instrumental keeping our SMS scores low with his continued education program for our drivers, as of writing this we are at 7% Unsafe, 0%HOS, and 14% Vehicle Maintenance.
Over the last few years Don has also volunteered his time with local school districts to take a truck to driver’s education classes and speak to kids about truck safety and operating around trucks when on the road. Over time this is going to have a huge impact on our community as teenagers will hopefully have a better understanding of truck safety. " - Adam Hanson
